Hi all , just need a bit of advice on accusump, 1st one is the only difference between manual and electric controll is you can prime the engine before staring the engine with the electronic version ? 2nd one is im gonna go for the biggest one 6 pints ( any thoughts on fitting of that size ??? ) and im going to tee it into one of the oil cooler lines does it matter which one ? . cheers for any ideas , Dal

The biggest is best and fits no problem.

Fit to the return line from the cooler/filter. Ideally fit a non return valve between the Tee and the cooler/filter so your charge does not try and go back the wrong way. Having said that i have not done this on the basis that the system will be trying to pump albeit not as effective as you would like. If the Accusump discharge is able to go the wrong way against the flow then perhaps the situation was beyond recovery anyway.

Electric valve is best so you can have a pre-oil on startup. I have mine connected direct to the ignition but others connect via an oil pressure valve. The issue I see with that is 1. A standard oil pressure valve is only 2-5psi so that is all you will get on a pre-oil before the Accusump closes again. 2. The Accusump will not open until the oil pressure is way too low and damage may already be done. Higher rated switches can be fitted but you need to be careful what pressure you choose.

Accusump can also supply a pressure switch that allows the unit to discharge at various pressures depending on your requirements. The idea is that this is below you idle oil pressure but not so low that damage is done to the engine. I am also told that this system allows the accusump to refil quicker after discharge when oil pressure is high enough. With Std electric solenoid tank takes a long time to refill after discharge no good on track. Parts are avaialable in the UK http://www.performanceunlimited.co.uk/CantonUK%20d...
