It was me. I did it about the same time I did the 'Hitlers new Can-am' parody on Youtube.
I was going to redraw it in a vector format so it could be made to any size and put out a few shirts to those that would like one, but Stig kind of put me off by warning me of the perils of the laws of copyright, and that the Gentlemen at 'Broadcasting House' might not take too kindly to it. Might be worth a gamble if there's an interest.

It is unlikely they would be able to, or even want to take you to task - they would not want the negative publicity believe me! Normally at worst they would ask (demand?) you take it off sale, or issue you with a cease and desist...
- then all you do is say " OK Gov!".
By then we will all be wearing the tee-shirts and there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING they can do about that!
Especially when a whole bunch of us turn up at one of their gigs with shirts on full display!

Keith - you underestimate the merchandising value of the programme to the Beeb. Trust me, they'd be down on you like a ton of bricks. Bad publicity - it matters not, look at recent events with Ben Collins.- then all you do is say " OK Gov!".

Stig - Whilst I agree to a point, having worked with WIPO in Geneva for quite a while, I do know that there are a number of factors that are considered before any action can be taken:The main factor is.....what we call the 'device' (ie the copied logo). Is it sufficiently close to the original to be misconstrued as the original?
In this case I don't see how it can be misconstrued - as the wording is different - however it would be even more debatable if either the font used (on the fear bit for example) or the gear/wheel were slightly different.
The logo is not licentious, defamatory nor misleading.
The use, potential pecunary advantage, size of the organisation and exposure of the contentious logo would also dictate the response if any.
There can be no copyright infringement in using common words alone.
So sticking it on a website in full view of the general public as it is, may be a bad thing to do.
However, putting it on a few tee-shirts is really not going to raise an eyebrow IMO, especially as we know there are so many with logos that are obviously cocking a snoop at various well-known brands already.

Also..... I had a similar run in when I put a slightly doctored clip from the simpsons on my website. I had the FOX tv lawyers sending me all sorts telling me its court if I didn't take the website content down within 24 hours! would not have thought they would be that interested. They must trawl through every website, youtube vid etc looking for stuff like that so anything is possible !

However, I have an inbuilt dislike of overbearing silly rules (unless they can be logically explained as reasonable), and I have an unfortunate renegade streak which sometimes gets me in tepid water (not too hot thankfully). And so... pick your fights carefully, do your research, then decide if it is worth it to you...

My words of caution were there simply to avoid the expense and hassle of legal proceedings in the unlikely event that they'd be brought about. As you rightly say, civil law and precedence are usually quite vague and if you land up in court, it get expensive, very quickly, for no result (for either party).
So, for anyone who wants to make a T like this, then feel free - just be aware of what you're doing and what consequences there might be.
PS. Even if the beeb don't go after you for the logo, I might for the GTR outline
