Always wondered this.
Is an a newly built registered Ultima GTR not classed the same as a newly built production car?
I.e emission tested
The only way a car can be taxed against emissions is if it has been type approved. Is an a newly built registered Ultima GTR not classed the same as a newly built production car?
I.e emission tested
An Ultima is not a production car as such so has no type approval. It is therefore taxed as PLG (Private or Light Goods) either above or below 1549cc.
For IVA test and subsequent MOT it is tested on emission levels related to the age of the engine. If the engine is pre 1973 (I think) then the test is visual smoke only.
