Don't know if anyone has had a renewal lately, but I have just SORN mine and noticed that the cost for 12 months has gone up to £205.00 and 6 months is £112.75. I was unaware that it was increasing....lets hope no further increases before I retax in March.

same here... its a bloody disgrace. In the past few days I wouldnt mind so much if the local roads had actually been gritted and we were able to use the car....

Have a look and see what tax a new car would pay based on your emmisions level and you will find £205 is getting off very light.

Always wondered this.

Is an a newly built registered Ultima GTR not classed the same as a newly built production car?
I.e emission tested

The only way a car can be taxed against emissions is if it has been type approved.
An Ultima is not a production car as such so has no type approval. It is therefore taxed as PLG (Private or Light Goods) either above or below 1549cc.

For IVA test and subsequent MOT it is tested on emission levels related to the age of the engine. If the engine is pre 1973 (I think) then the test is visual smoke only.

Hopefully the goverment wont clock onto this as i for one will be quite happy to pay the standard road tax compared to what a new performance car road tax is. Another benefit of owning an Ultima (the missus will be happy)

you cant use the car for 6 mths of the year over there though due to snow... I use my Noble ALL year round and btw its the same tax bracket as an Ultima with 30mpg smile

stop complaining, its cheap simple as lol
