Well I did a full day at Snetterton on Saturday, and the car never missed a beat

I played around with my Intrax suspension and eventually found 45 clicks at the rear and 40 at the front about right, little or no understeer except for the slowest of corners and still a nice, sharp turn-in.
May try a little bit harder setup next time.

For anyone interested if you're running the Eagle F1 tyres I found 14psi front and 18psi rear (cold pressures) to be absolutely perfect, nice even heat and wear.
I would think a pound less on hotter days (although it was quite warm).

What surprised me most however was not the performance of my car (which was excellent) but the straight-line speed of the new GT3RS, of which there were two there.
Up to 110-120mph I could not get past them, only over this speed did I start to pull away!
In the corners the Canam had quite a considerable edge however.
When you consider my engine's bench dyno sheet says a max of 416bhp and 473ft/lbs and I have since added an oil cooler and cold airbox this makes the GT3RS a great bit of kit IMHO

All in all I'm chuffed but might start looking for 100bhp somewhere now where's that supercharger...

Sounds like you had a great time. Interesting to note where you ended up with the dampers/tyre pressures. It seems that you ended up with a lot stiffer dampers but lower tyre pressures than I recall others using.

Look forward to being able to play with that sort of thing myself...though I have a lot of learning to do on the driving side first. The numbers may be quite different for Knockhill from Snetterton I suspect!

When's your next planned venture at KH? I saw your car out on one of the SIDC days last year, but I had 'gremlins' of my own to sort out so didn't get a chance to say Hi.

That wasn't me, my car wasn't finished then. I guess it was probably George Ross (gdr on here).

I'll probably be at KH as a spectator for this weekends SMRC meeting all things being equal. Got a lot of running in to do before I can take it on track...

It was fantastic and the car really equitted itself well.

The tyres were getting pretty warm and don't forget this is a Canam so a bit lighter maybe?

You should be ashamed, not being able to outurn a car with a lower power-to-weight ratio Out of interest what is the top speed of the gt3rs? I'm guessing it's geared shorter since it's a race car.

Hehehe yeah, think I'll send it back

I don't know what the top end is on the RS but I think you're right, they are geared pretty low.

Anyone interested there's a picture of me going through the Bomb Hole in my gallery here: www.pbase.com/algape/ultima
it's on the second page.

On that note.. does anyone know if you can fit a 'charger under the lid of a Can-am??

Duuno, but the idea of a chrome charger and the scoop glistening through the engine cover kinda sounds cool...

Just don't be around when the belt snaps or it decides to spit flames into the cockpit

Few points on this from the wise:

1) Will not fit 'under' the lid.
2) The drive shaft will extend into the cockpit
3) You will have to position the engine/trans further back so you will have to modify the engine mounts, tranny mounts, exhaust system and mounts
4) It will be bl00dy noisy
5) There will be a big belt whizzing round about 6" from your head

Alternatively, you can use a centrifugal supercharger, with such big engines you´ll have enough low torque anyway.

You could fit the baby 144 weiand/holley supercharger or as somone suggested a centrifugal one. Dont forget to think about fueling and boost retard.

Shipping on the 144 is around $150 from the states.

I took this photo of what i believe is a 144 (because it had a 6 rib belt) at stoneleigh, it was on an engine near the ultima stand.

and

Stig, What blower is on yours? - 177?
