Hi again!

Am I right in assuming the only settings for the engine/flywheel/clutch are:?

flywheel to engine 65ft/lbs
clutch pressure plate (allen key bolts)to flywheel 25

Cheers
Gary.

No offense, but why ask here. You'll probably get an answer, appropriate for *that* person's situation.

This is a hard-core engine question that should be asked of the engine builder. If that's you, then the factory (Chevy, Ford, etc) manual should be used. If you're using an after-market aluminum flywheel, then you'll need to ask the manufacturer. There's too many combinations of drivetrains to just ask as one general question.

You are correct with those torque settings for the G50 series transaxles and adaptor plate from the factory. At least, thats what I have in the manual and thats what I used. Don't forget the adaptor plate is 28ft lbs

Out of interest, how many teeth on the starter motor pinion?

What engine have you got, Gen 1 small block or Gen 3 LS1? If LS1 then you have to make several passes for the correct tightening sequence and the bolts are specific to the LS1 with locktight on them as well.

Hi Phil,

There are 10 teeth on the starter motor pinion.
I am surprised at how small these starters are!
Thanks for the torque setting for the adapter plate to engine block, something I was not aware of.

The engine is a 1972 6.3L SBC supplied by American Speed and all the other parts I need for this car are supplied by the factory.

Two reasons for this:
1/ I wouldn't know what to get otherwise.
2/ I wouldn't know where to get it.

Phil,

It's a G50/00 long box.

I do have the exact model and even the gear ratios, kindly supplied by yourself, filed away for future ref.
