I just thought that you guys may wanted to see what the "Turbo Swedes" are doing up north.

The text on the site is in Swedish but I guess the pics speaks for them selves... Please feel free to ask questions if there is anything that interests you.

What engine is that, Big Block ? also are you using those Ally Rods, I thought the life of an Ally rod was only about 500 Miles ?
Nice build.. Very Nice Carbon luggauge container tops....

Nice carbon panels, more rigid than aluminum and about 1/2 the weight, great minds think alike.
I wonder if that'll make this one the worst built Ultima in Sweden?

It's an aluminium smallblock with symetrical port heads. Brodix makes both.

Ally rods has shorter lifespan but these are designed for a much harder life (2000hp blown mehanol engine) then what they will have in my engine so they will have a much longer life span. Since making custom rods would take "forever" i opted for these because they where available and almost for free. Maybe I change to steel rods to next year.

Hi !

Very inspirational. I check your homepage every now and then !!

I've tried to contact you via the e-mail on your home-page. But I haven't got an answer. Maybe the address is out of date ?

I was interrested in possibly bying wheels for the drivebelt, flywheel if you have, and so forth for the engine I'm building. It seemed as if you sell them.

I'm also curious of at what stage the SFRO inspector first saw your build?
I need to know how much I can mount before first inspection. They want to see the weld on the frames as I understood it !?
Then I can't mount the panels.

Also as I understood they sometimes want to see how engine and gearbox is mounted. But I do not want to mount that before having mounted all panel. Maybe just a prefit ?

Could you care to comment some about at what stages you have had contact with SFRO and any hints of mistakes to avoid ?

Good speed !

Looking at the pictures above I see the Ultima (at least this one) used a "sport-bike" gas filler. The hose connecting to it has a funnel-shaped piece at the end of it, where it attaches to the filler.

I'm currently building a unrelated car from scratch and am installing a "sport-bike" style gas filler too. The filler I have simply pushes into the end of the gas hose. Can someone please tell me what purpose the funnel-shaped piece does at the end of the hose?

gtr-tt,

Can I ask where you got your rods from ?
They sound like the kind of thing I am looking for.

Thanks

You need to contact your local SFRO (SVA) and talk to them about in what stage your local SFRO agent want you to show the car for the first time and where they do the testdrive and the sound tests.
I guess you have visited their website regarding their recomendations...

Hi !

Yes, I've mailed some with one agent. Not my local though. And I've talked to him on the phone as well.
But that was on SFRO and rules in general, and not Ultima specifically.

I was particulary curious as to if you had mounted the panels at first inspection, and if you had the engine mounted ?

Have you had to do any special choices so that they wouldn't classify your build as a kit-car?
SFRO recommended me to contact Vägverket, which I haven't yet. Did you prior to your build, to find out how much could be bought from the factory, and what you had to get from other suppliers to not have the car classified as a kit-car ?

Keep up the good work !
Would have been at the fair where you exposed your car, had I not lived to far away.

Regards,
/Patriq

As I said. you have to take all these qustions with the SFRO agent that will approve your car. They all are individuals and if one thinks its ok to look at the car with the panels on doesn't mean that the other thinks the same. If all rules shall be followed the Ultima can't be registered at all because it's not an amature built vehicle, you have to be creative... Once again, talk with your local SFRO and ask him if and what he will allow.

OK,
Will do.
I have forseen most of what you mention. And just as you point out, one has to be creative. And trust me, I will !

Looking forward to keep on following your build.
