Anyone added an Accusump to an LS7?
Any issues?
Was it worth it?
How was it plumbed in?

cheers

Hey Keith,

I just ordered an Accusump for a C5R (LS7) installation, I can tell you about it in a couple of days (weeks). In my opinion it should be a no-brainer as it simply plugs into one of the D-12 lines to/from the oil cooler via a T-piece (you can find a pic of the installation in the Ultima Build Manual)

That was what I thought Sven!

managed to get a s'hand Accusump a few months ago with all the pipework, but then found out the cost of a flap valve (-12) and all the added fittings yikes , so wanted to be sure it was really worth it!

I am thinking of splicing it between the feed from the oil tank to the sump (return)...Yes?

Let me know how you get on!

Am I missing something here?
The LS7 is dry sump so why would you want an Accusump.

The oil pump is connected directly to a tank of oil so why would you want to add another tank of oil.
Also where would you connect it...if you connect it to the line from the tank (as has been suggested) once it has emptied there will be no pressure in the line to re-fill it.

Hmmm,

If that's the case....Good Point Steve!

I'm confused now!

Not difficult!

I think the best solution is to pull out that dirty old LS7 with that pesky old dry sump, and I will send you a nice shiny LS2 with a nice shiny blue accusump attached.

Is it really necessary? Seeing 911's never heard of Accusump attached to a dry sump machine, but stand to be corrected

I guess the Accusump makes most sense when you don`t use a dry sump - and even then it`s probably still nice to have. Doesn`t it even provide oil pressure prior / during engine start when there`s usually the greatest engine wear due to missing oil pressure?

Yes, but since the LS7 does not appear to have a gallery plug (to connect the pre-oiler to the galleries 'after' the oil pump, then there does not appear to be a way that the accusump can be recharged..

...this is what I believe Steve is highlighting, so my thoughts of splicing into the 'in' oil feed from the tank is rubbish!

...sounds like too much trouble...???

Its only use would be for pre oiling during startup which is when 85% of engine wear occurs apparently. It would need to go in a pressurised oil line with a one way valve (low restriction) before it.

Yep, and that's the rub. with a std LS7 / oil tank/cooler system, there is nowhere I can see where you would be able to get a refill as well as discharge (to the right bits) by splicing into any of the lines?
...unless anyone knows different?
