mapping ECU with butterfly manifold
Discussion
Hi folks,
thought you might me interested in my ECU mapping progress. Since last time I created a Lambda target map
that allows me to precisely control the lambda values and fuel corrections for all possible MAP/RPM values.
It works pretty well and is reducing the fuel consumption to around 16-17/100km liters driving around town and country
in traffic.
To prevent cangarooing I needed to go as low as 0,9 or 0.95 at revs close to idle. As I do not have
an idle valve on my throttle body I learned that I cannot go any lower than 950 rpms for idle.
I also learned why the idle valve makes sense for sitting in traffic and reducing fuel consumption to a minimum
on production cars.
The other thing I learned is that if you are running closed loop at LAMBDA 1,0, I experience the TIP IN problem if
I floor the throttle from low revs. I have ordered a TPS sensor from Wilson Manifolds and plan to install this
in the next weeks. That will allow me to programm an increase in fuel with TIP Ins so the engine response
should improve.
If I run the car in the slightly richer base map without the fuel corrections in Closed Loop the effect is not
so prominent as the TAU seems to be better then.
Once I have the TPS installed I will also go on a roller so I can fine tune the Advance Map and squeeze out
the last horses of my engine.
At this time I will post all the maps and settings so if you ever go for a LS7 with aftermarket ECU you have
a point to start from.I must admit I am quite happy with the DTAFAST ECU as it helps you learning a lot about
engine tuning and has a great feedback of what is going on in your engine.

Very interesting...
Im fairly happy with my DTA map at the moment but i will do some trimming when she has settled in ....
She is rich at the moment but this coming weekend will give me some idea on road manners and economy. Im running .9 lambda at idle and have set my closed loop targets at that figure but i think she will go leaner at light throttle but i think its better to be rich and steadily lean back rather than going straight at lambda 1 or leaner. An engine needs what it needs.
I have tps on my throttle body(edelbrock) which one do you have fitted?
Are you using a air temp sensor or are you trying to use the crap MAF? I have a spare LS1 air temp sensor if you want one? It should help you with fine tuning, my throttle body air temp temperatures are proberly a little warmer than yours !!!

Have not fitted on yet, but ordered the matching TPS for my throttle body. I am using speed density no MAF instalelled. Have you used the lambda target map or are you only going for 0,9 ?She is rich at the moment but this coming weekend will give me some idea on road manners and economy. If so you can still check the recorded fuel corrections, you will be amazed !
Anyway I am eager to see the results from the roller, especially since the ignition map is sure to improve. The guy that I am going to is a known specialist
that is doing most if not all of the Techart and did all of the Gemballa Porkers. I am mostly relying on his experience he should have a lot since he is doing that all day long.
