Lubricating a bush

So I didn't spend the day watching the wedding. Another one of those days where I took one step forward and two back.
A question to the knowledgeable. What is the white "grease" the factory send with new bushes. Is it, as I suspect, tyre soap or is it something like silicon grease?
The main problem of the day has been finding that one of the rear wheel bearings is on it's way out and taking the hub with it (spinning on the hub). It is the early stage of failure but it would not have been much fun if it had let go on track/road.
A stage of the rebuild that would take a few minutes with new parts takes quite a bit longer when you have to clean, check, polish and paint before fitting.
I am hopeing you guys can provide a bit of renewed enthusiasm on Sunday at Stoneleigh.
