Hi All,

Having just moved in to the new house last weekend, we are in the process of getting everything sorted and I have come around to the TV & AV kit.

Now - we have rented for the last couple of years - so did not have the option of chasing out plaster to effectively hard wire the TV in position.

I've been looking into options, and want to keep the look as 'clean' as possible - whilst maintaining a degree of flexibility.

Are there 'off the shelf' systems that effectivly extent the TV's ports so the think doesn't have to come off the wall every time a games console/bluray/PC needs to be plugged in?

I currently have a freesat Panasonic TV & quite like the fact that this does not have any peripharels plugged in, but if running the power/ariel/sat through the wall i'd like to have a couple of HDMI cables also...

can anyone recommend a site/store that does this kinda thing?

Can't recommend a specific store, but Google searches expose a good list such as:

Will have a rumage through that site, was going to try to make a bespoke panel. IIRC I need 3 hdmi, 1 coax, 1 component, 1 optical - that I can remember about.

The ideal would be to keep the power and the signals separate.

The guys at ACA Apex are about to launch a simple trunking kit for just this application, I have been trialling one for them and the concept is good. www.aca-apec.co.uk

They also are the originators of the Brush Plate which could also be the perfect solution for you. The main person to talk to (Mike) is on holiday at the moment, back next week.

No connection other than a good friend, and buyer of their hardware (I have suggested a few to them as well)

I've got my TV on the fireplace, sat on a floating shelf, and there's a fitted wardrobe next to it. I borrowed a friend who owns an SDS drill with a 1m drill bit, and we drilled diagonally through the wall and the cupboard, made a hole in the shelf, and trunked all the cables through. It looks nice.

We've just finished our lounge and sank the cables into the wall (at the TV end anyway), we used some 16mm oval trunking for speaker cables, and a wide semi-circular trunking (designed to look pretty outside the wall) sunk in with the brush face plates either end. Sank them in nice and deep using an SDS drill with chisel action and they look great. Will try to upload pics at some point.

Trunking was from B&Q btw. We only needed to put a couple of cables up though as the amp does the component switching for us.

It looks a bit gash now because I've got my Xbox plugged in on the floor with the cables hanging down, But I'll see what I can do.
