I have an annoying question which I am baffled about!

I have wired a Samsung TV to my stereo amplifier so when watching movies I can run the sound through the amp.

Now the problem is that there is a very slight time delay between the sound from the TV and that coming through the speakers!

The issue isn't the apparent echoe, as I dont leave the sound on the TV when the amp is runing.

The problem is the slight delay makes it look like I'm constantly watching a dodgy DVD when thr sound is slightly out of sync!

I have checked that the speakers are wired correctly in phase - even tried swapping them, to success.

I can't beleive that a simple line out from the TV to my amp (Myryad) to the speakers (Kef) would have any noticeable delay!

Any suggestions please?

Are you using the phonos or an optical cable? Might be worth trying one or the other if not. I take it you have no delay / advace settings on the amp?

I'm using phono's - The amp is a Myryad MI 120, and I'm 99% sure it does't have an optical input.

There's no time delay option on the amp either.

It's got me baffled as it's such a simple set up which shouldn't have any complications! confused

I don't htink that is limited to Sky, I've had similar on Virgin. Turnign the box off and on again normally sorts it.

Its nothing unusual, you would expect by now that something like this would have been solved. What it normally is, is that the picture takes longer to process than the sound so in order to stay in sync the TV has to add a delay to the audio. Now on lots of TV's this delay is applied to the built in speakers on the TV but for some weird reason the delay either isnt applied to the audio out or is only applied to the optical out and not the RCA out. Generally its only very slight so if you turn the TV speakers down you dont realy notice it, if you turn them up it manifests as a slight echo. As an aftermarket bodge lots of cinima kits have variable audio delays on their inputs.
You could try running the phonos directly from your sky box, depending on weather the audio is either before or after the picture it will make it better or worse.

I don't have sky/cable at the moment, so I'm running it directly from the TV as I only use freeview.

I will see what it's like when I play a DVD as the player is directly connected to the amp but it seems that I'm stuck watching TV that looks like it's been badly dubbed!

The 8 is a Q I think you'll find. Have never seen an issue with sound delay on that model. Do you have any other powered speaker type thingy, anything with an audio input. eg an ipod dock or radio with an aux in? If you have it might be worth trying to see whether its the telly or the amp
Might also be wroth trying the headphone socket [ 3.5mm stereo jack to the phono inputs on the amp;;;red/ white You never know!

You are correct, it is a Q.

I tried with the headpone, and the time delay is gone! So it can't be the amp then, looks like I will be using the headphone jack for watching TV now!

I think its been mentioned but you should turn the sound right down to 0 on the tv and use just the amp as the audio output.

I have a Samsung connected to some z5500s via optical cable and if i have both turned up the sound will echo.

Turning the tv right down stops the echo and i personally dont notice a delay between someone on the tv speaking and the sound coming out.

The V4 wasnt, i think the S5 was one the first Freeview they did. The V4 had TERRIBLE lips sync problems on its phono output nearly a full second out!

That would be fine - I don't have the volume up on the TV when running through the hi-fi but there is a noticeable delay which is just annoying!

I will just use the headphone out in future until I get a new TV!
