After a bit of help from the ever knowledgeble ph masses. My girlfriend has recently purchased a mini hdmi media player to stream stuff from her portable hard drive to her 37" LG LCD tv. It all seems to be working fine but when she tries to adjust the volume with the tv control if sends the hdmi player bacl to the main menu.

I've had a google at it and it's all a bit inconclusive, perhaps there is an option to turn off hdmi control on the tv. I'm unsure as to weather the tv is trying to control the media player through the hdmi or weather it's just the media player uses a cheap signal and theres interference between the two?

I don't know exactly what model it is but it's about 2 years old and I haven't had chance to have a look at it myself yet.

Anyone any ideas?

Which model of LG 37" TV?
What mini hdmi media player?
Is there any help in the manuals that came with the TV or media player?

What has the weather got to do with it? Is it better when the sun shines?

I doubt it is hdmi control interference. It is more likely to be that there is some code overlap. So the code sent to the tv for Volume is the same or very similar to the code used by the media box menu screen.

Demending on the tv there may be an option to use a different code set that does not interfere.

I agree with V on this. Looking at the manual the media uses an infra red remote control. I would test to check if any of the buttons on the media controller have an affect on the TV.

"weather" because I'm sure you meant "whether", poor joke.
