Although these have been around for a little while, I couldn't help purchasing these from Amazon for the £14 odd they were up for. I have read some good reviews of these but how good are they in the real world?

I use a pair with my ipod, I'm impressed with the sound quality and don't think you'll find anything better without spending considerably more money.

They are utterly superb for the money. You can get the 500s for similar money too, which are even better.

As above, great earphones for the money. Mine lasted about 9 months before the connector separated but I sent them back to Play.com for a full refund.

I then bought some SoundMagic earphones for about £40. They difference in sound quality is really hard to tell and looking back, I should have just got another pair of the CX300's or spent a little more on something a bit more tasty.

Still amazes me that Apple can get away with sending the ones they bundle in with the iPods - they are proper schite!

14 quid from Amazon means they are not real, they are fakes.

The cx300's are like a Mondeo. It doesn't stick out at anything, it's not bad but not great either, it's ok for the price, but it's very far from being in the same league as a Zonda.

One can easily spend £500+ on a set of earphones wink

Amazon themselves don't have them for that price.

Marketplace sellers do.

They're one of a handful of products I'd only ever buy from a proper retailer, rather than eBay or Amazon Marketplace.

I see. If they're crap, I'll just order them from Play. That's just annoyed me a bit but what the heck, it's only £14.

edit - These were the ones I purchased:

I think you may be fine, as they were delivered direct from an Amazon warehouse - I suspect Amazon wouldn't allow fakes on their premises.

But, along with batteries and memory cards, you have to be careful.

Given their 2yr warranty IIRC you'd be daft not to double check they are genuine. From what I understand Sennheiser are good at replacing faulty phones. It is a price worth paying IMHO!

I bought a pair 6 months ago, died after 3 weeks - sent them to Sennheiser, they said because they were fakes, and I didnt buy from their "Authorised retailers" list, they wont do anything with them, and just posted them back to me - the real ones are closer to 40 quid than 14 quid - and I believe the ones on Play arnt actually fulfilled by play themselfs, but also marketplace.

For example John Lewis sell them for £25.

Stuff magazine even state that these could be had for £18. Was browsing an old copy and found it in the recommended section in the back.
