Anyone know much about the Arcam Solo Mini? I need a new hi-fi as my current one has died after 17 years! What would be good speakers to pair with it? I've read a few reviews online and it seesm to get a good write up but they are all a few years old so I wasn't sure if it was due to be replaced/updated soon?

i promise you. buy it, and you will not regret it.

i 'downgraded' from a rotel 10'series amp/cd combo. now for the money that set up was highly regarded. at one time i had it powering a pair of b&w 703's (these are big speakers and it powered them a treat)and also pmc gb1's.

i moved house, and needed to free a little cash, so i shifted them for a pair of quad 11L's. beautiful sound.

i always felt guilty leaving the rotel's on, and had a problem with low level listening, so i swopped the rotel's for a solo mini and sonos.

im now using monitor audio rx1 speakers and chord odyssey/crimson+ cables.
going from the rotel's i do not feel short changed.

fantastic clarity, midrange focus and bass weight. the treble is so sweet and is never sharp. volume goes to neighbour annoying levels but the best thing for me is low level listening. all detail is there, and running through sonos no machine/laser noise.

don't let anyone tell you the marantz cr603 is better. i did back to back listening with monitor audio rx1 and rx2, kefq 300's , b&w 685's and dynaudio 2/6.

i ended up with the rx1's bacause the 2/6's are demanding for the arcam drive. compared to my old 602's the b&w's disappoint, and the treble sometimes unruly. the rx2's were too large for my room (bass overpowered) and the kef's too god dam ugly (however these performed the best with the solo)

i also run my panasonc d28 and sony bd s370 through it and it performs superbly. in fact, i may even buy a little mj pro 50 mk2 sub to give it a little more movie magic

Sounds like the sort of thing I'm looking for. Where is the best place to buy speaker, stands, cable etc?

Had mine for just over a year now. Replaced some ugly looking mish mash of boxes and cables. Performs at least as well and by keeps the missus happy by being just a touch more 'discrete'.

Couldn't stretch to the RX1s but I do have it hooked up to a pair of the lower Broze series Monitor Audios.
