LG HT503 5.1 - what have I done?

I have an LG HT503 5.1 system which hooked up to an LG 32” TV, up until a few days ago all was working fine.
I’ve been wanting to re-arrange the layout of the tv/dvd player etc so went about carefully unplugging everything, arranged the equipment how i wanted then set about connecting the wires back again, its not a complicated wire-up and once I had redone our lounge I didn’t rush the reconnecting.
Then I tried to play a dvd just to make sure everything worked, and I’ve somehow managed to knock out the DVD player/surround sound unit and i can’t figure out how, I’ve disconnected everything and reconnected but nothing, when i turn the surround sound system on the DVD screen flickers on but then the signal to the TV is lost. its usually connected by HDMI but this didn’t work, so I tried scart and it still didn’t work
im not sure what ive done bit if there is a way of checking the software or hardware so I can determine the fault? Or an engineer near Heathrow who could have a look....

What fault checking have you done? Got power to the unit? Can it play a DVD, i.e. will the display show it playing, even if it's not coming out of the TV? Can you hear sound if you put an audio CD in? Can you connect via analogue connections,i.e. red, white, yellow cables/ S-Video?
Unit has power going to it as it turns on. When i put a dvd in i can hear it whirring and the display is showing there is a DVD in it but there is no picture on the TV, occasionally the picture momentarily appears like a flash but then its lost again.
There is no sound when a Music CD is in it
I've connected it via S-Video, HDMI and Red/White/Yellow and its still the same.
i feel an expensive repair job coming
