I've got an early SkyHD box (the one with component outputs) and it's now refusing to record anything. It'll also only show you the current programme on the EPG, nothing past that.

Live pause doesn't work, and nothing new is going onto Anytime.

So, is the box knackered? I'm happy to replace it as long as it is the box at fault!

Big Al.

Thanks, I'll try the rebuild option but I can rule out the cabling as the other box works fine when you swap the dish feeds over.

As it won't record anything, I'm wondering if the HD is dead, but TBH the box is probably 4 years old now so it's had a reasonable innings!

Have a check of the input signal strengths. I have very similar symptoms and Input 2 is showing as no signal (even when you swap the leads over). Call to sky and diagnosed as a dead receiver so an engineer is coming out; although not for another week and a bit.

Will do. That wouldn't explain why live pause doesn't work though, would it? That's using the feed on the input you're watching.

I got one of the first SkyHD boxes (must have been about 2007?) Had to have it replaced 5 times over the first year and cancelled Sky as soon as my year was up.

Forgave Sky and came back with a new box about a year ago and the new box is much better although it has started not recording stuff again. Usually a reboot fixes it but it has happened about 3 or 4 times now so another call to Sky might be on the cards.

My Sky box new in April has started loosing recordings.
I had recorded project strike back on series link and tonight I find that only E2 is there but I had recorded the full series as had checked yesterday.

Upon further checks other series link shows have lost random episodes.

Help please

OK, so it turned out to be the cable - although it looked fine, a cat has chewed through it!

Re-terminated it, and all working now. Phew!

This won't be of any use against a hungry cat but there seems to be a software issue with a lot of the HD boxes at the moment - laggy performance and problems with Anytime not updating or going completely empty. You need to do a planner rebuild to sort this out and the issue comes back again in a couple of weeks but it might be useful info for anyone having other issues with their box.

Sky seem completely aware of this but don't seem to be in a rush to fix it.

My SkyPlus box is absolute rubbish. It continuously freezes and has to be unplugged to reboot it. It also records but doesn't always capture the sound.

All in all it's pretty naff. I contacted Sky and they haven't even responded! Time to go somewhere else.
