Is freeview better picture quality than freesat? I'm using a humax box to receive freesat and the picture doesn't seem to be as good as freeview (and the two daves have gone).

Inbuilt Freeview tuner IMO will normally give a better pic than a connected Fresat box. Have you connected the box with HDMI or is it a non HD box? Dont think Dave has ever been on Freesat by the way but might stand corrected

You've answered your own question really. For you freeview is obviously better.

You don't get Dave on Freesat. Randomness of Sky and Dave's owners...

Our freesat picture is night and day better than the freeview picture - both tuners in a panny TV. I suspect that the aerial and cable play a part though.

Can you get a TV with Freeview or freesat built, in that will record programmes like Sky+?
looking at hanging a TV on the bedroom wall and there's no where for a separate box.

Put the box on the back of the screen

Yes some have a USB port for recording to, simply use some dongles or cable to external hard drive.

Exactly this, most of the decent new sets have FreeviewHD and Freesat tuners built in, just need a hard disk drive to record to. It's on my list of additions, but not sure if you have to have the TV powered on to allow recording? Or does it wake from standby?

Not sure about the latest models but the G20 has to be on standyby for this to work and also you can'y record one channel and watch another. On the freesat/freeview debate I personnaly find freesat a better picture but I am sure this is subjective.

Just to clarify for you then the recording will work when the TV is on or in stanby mode (ie turned off by remote) but not if turned off at button on side of telley. Also you can't change channels when recording but you can watch a DVD.

Brill thanks.

OK So one more question and the chap can have his thread back biggrin

Does any Hard Disk work? I see Panasonic only recommend Buffalo, but surely a hard drive is a hard drive? Right?

Just before you go...
I will have a look for a G20 whatever that is, but the TV will be wall mounted and in an area where we walk past (foot of the bed) so I don't want anything that'll make it stack out any more than necessary. Additional add on boxes also will cause a problem I fear.
Sorry OP

Just investigated a Panny G20 -ouch thats too expensive for a bedroom TV
