Was bought UE40D6530 for my 40th, excellent TV I have to say. Before bought it I did read a forum post (and response) on lag issues when using wii..... Cleverly, I didnt make a note of the solution...

Now, being a TV numpty here ( my last TV was 22" sony CRT circa jurassic period) I'm guessing one of the issues is the output of the wii is component into a component=>scart converor, which is then plugged into the scart=>external RGB convertor....

I have tried using the "AV in" on the component in (funny shaped green plug into TV with 5 component cables in)and that just doesnt work full stop.

Q1 I have seen Wii - component cables, but is there a straight wii=>hdmi cable
q2, are there any other settings on the wii or tv I need to change

Apologies in advance for slow responses, access is limited ight now

most likely to be some sort of "picture enhancement" option on the TV. Go through the settings menus and try switching it off

The Wii doesn't support HDMI. The best picture you will get will be with a proper Wii Component Cable.

However, I don't think that will solve this issue. It sounds like your TV do funny things. Turn off all the automatic stuff in the TV menu and see if that helps?

This topic got me interested so I Googled and found this: http://uk.gear.ign.com/articles/712/712352p1.html

It seems to suggest that really you have the wrong TV for the job unfortunately.

However, you should check through and see if you TV has a Game mode and if so that may help. If not then you should try to turn off the image processing as much as you can.

What's lagging?
Daughter has Wii Sing and it works to a point then the videos get out of sync with the picture. Seems it's a common problem and the software company says turn off all enhancements, so go to mono sound instead of sterio, crank down the screen resolution, and a few other bits and bobs.
To be honest, I've not tried it again but might be worth looking at?

That sounds exactly like the lag the OP was talking about to me.

Cheap TVs can be superb...but not used as PC monitors.

For instance, the excellent budget SONY KDL40EX503U LCD TV, has an input lag of 60ms in “Game Mode” compared to a lag-free CRT.

http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/sony-kdl40ex503-kdl...

However, good quality LCD monitors are expensive when compared with similar sized TVs.

Samsung have some really responsive monitors (sub 2ms)...the picture quality is also very good indeed.

Have a look at ebuyer...

With the introduction of 3D TV, basic 2D TVs are terrific value at the moment and ones like the SONY mentioned earlier are described by SONY as "Essentials Range"...don't be put off by that though, because they offer TV features and TV performance that would have cost around £1000.00 only a couple of years ago!

Found the game mode buried several layers deep and lag is pretty much non existant, tho need to give it a proper test next week. Game mode can be set on each input, so I'll get myself a decent component cable and hopefully that should be enough. Or swap the wii for a PS3 smile

Thanks for the advice!
