In June I finally upgraded my ol' Toshiba 36" CRT for a Samsung PS59D6900 and ran it in for a bit before playing around with the settings. Tried a couple of settings from AVForums but the picture just did not give me the wow factor. The colours were bland and the picture did not jump out at you. I would get bored watching Toy Stroy 3. After seeing how vibrant and alive the colours were on a Panasonic I took the Sammy back to Costco and got a 50GT30, which was a shame as I really liked the size of the Sammy. The build quality on the Panasonic is in a different league and the picture very much to my liking. However frequently I have noticed flashes on small areas which I can best describe as color bleeding (if that is the right term). It comes and goes in a blink of an eye.

I've had a look at AVforums and there are issues with the set such as flashing brightness and green splodges but I can't find anything describing what I see. Getting to the point where I may send this one back and dust out the ol' Toshi.

Anyone with a Panasonic GT30 come across this?

I have the VT30 but fortunatly did not suffer from this.

I know you have said you have looked at the fluctuating brightness thread on AV forums but what you describe sounds a lot like that.

I would recommend updating your firmware to the latest software for the TV and also go back to the AV forums and in the fluctuating brightness thread there is a test video which will hughlight if this is the problem - worth a go before returning the TV.

I also replaced a Samsung for a Panasonic and while I did like the samsung the Panasonic is streets ahead.....

I upgraded the firmware to 1217 over the weekend and the issue is still there. I'll give the AVForums test video a try.
