Panasonic Viera TX-P42ST30
Discussion
I'm after a new telly and have read a number of favourable reviews about this 42" Viera model. It's £599 at John Lewis with 5 year warranty. They were slightly cheaper at Richer Sounds with a shorter warranty, but they seem to have all gone.

Before I blow all my hard won cash on one, is there anything else better for the money, or cheaper and just as good? Just to give you an idea of what I'm after, the majority of my tv watching will be standard def Sky for now, but I want something that'll look really good when I watch a Bluray film. I like that it has the option of 3d should I want to give it a try in future too.
Whatever my choice I can't go bigger than 42" or spend more money.

Thanks Rich,
I went round the shops yesterday to try to view one. John Lewis didn't have that size on display, but the 50" version looked pretty good, not sure you can draw any conclusion from different sizes though. Currys had a 42" one on display but the picture looked awful. Looking behind, I couldn't see a HDMI lead so the source may have been pretty poor?
