Hi gurus,

Want to set up a surround system in my living room. I don't need DVD player as use PS3. I take it I'll need an amp, 4 wall speakers and a sub. I guess the amp will need at least one hdmi input and ouput for ps3 and to tv.. Is that right?
So any advice on amps ? And small wall speakers?
The room us about 15ft by 15ft.
I'm not after a dirt cheap system but don't want to spend a fortune either as the rooms quite smallish. Been looking at 2nd hand ones on fleabay but bit lost.

Cheers for any input

I'll get hung, drawn and quartered for this, but the Bose systems look quite decent, small speakers, super easy set up, tidy unit, and recently discounted by about 15%, plus save 10% if you buy at an outlet store.

Mind you everyone else will tell you, they are overpriced pieces of junk and you might as well listen through bean tin can with wet string attached. smile

I've been using Jamo A102 speakers with an Onkyo 605 amp for around four years now.

Still very pleased with the set up as the speakers are nice and discreet.

For 5.1 surround you'll need 5 speakers (front left and right, rear left and right and a center speaker) + a sub.

How do you get your TV? Sky? freeview? If it's Sky you may want to look for a amp system with at least 2 inputs (HDMI for SKY and PS3), if your looking second hand the Denon's always get decent reviews and you should be able to get an AVR-1910 or 1911 for not to much money

Go for something like an Onkyo 509 or Denon 1612, although the Onkyo is networked so can stream audio so that would be my choice. For speakers, perhaps something such as the Kef 1005.2 or even one of the Boston Acoustics Soundware 5.1 packages.
