What 42" TV for around £5-600?
Discussion
We're in the market for a 42" screen (LCD, LED or plasma??) and have no idea what to get. Theres a multitude of TVs on the market and we've always had Panasonic but even then theres loads of different models to choose from.
What would you guys recommend and also wheres got the best deals at present?

The Panasonic stores are doing the TXP42ST30 42 Inch (106cm) Full-HD 3D Plasma TV for £650 including 2 sets of 3D glasses and 5 yr warranty, compared with £600 with no glasses at John Lewis. The only slight fly in the ointment is i'm still waiting for the 3rd gen specs to arrive as there seems to be a major backlog.

I have not used this company but there is a thread on here where people who have used them said good things. Don't think it comes with any glasses but could always wait to pick some up. I have the non 3d version and very happy with it.
Hopefully this comes unde this thread, after the same sort of thing decided on LED rather than anything else, now 2 things.
1. I see a couple i am looking at are wifi enabled (but you have to buy & plug in a dongle from your ISP, ie Vigin worth it ?) to watch love film etc through the router rather than have to buy a ps3.
2. Is it worth 'futureproofing' and going for 3D now if thats the way things are going more in the years ahead ?
Has anyone used the sony cash back deal £100 and was it straightforward enough

If the cashback deal is anything like the one when I bought my Sony camera it will be spot on, no hassle, cheque and all accompanying paperwork came back far faster than they said it would.
Have noticed that Sony have started punting out one of their 40" 2011 screens KDL-40NX723BU (I think) with the 2.1 speaker stand inclusive, presumably after reviews gave it a real slagging off for poor sound. Pity the picture is a bit dim too as really love the styling on that stand / sound bar.
Realise the praise for non-Panasonic will result in being sent to PH equivalent of Coventry.
In my defence I'm on the point of ditching plans and keeping the 32" crt Pana for a while longer.

The Panasonic store doing the deal I got was in Exeter. I finally got the call to pick up the 3D spex last week and when i went in on the Thursday they were having an open day and were including a 1 day only extra 10% off! This brought the 46" ST30 down to £698 and the 42" down to £585 - curses! I did nab a blueberry muffin on the way out to offest some of my disappointment
