Evening all,

I have a 4 week old Panasonic P42G30B plasma screen. Very pleased with the picture so far, and spend most of the time on the freeview HD channels. However, there is a slight problem with ITV1 HD, the speech is very slightly out of sync with the picture. All the other channels appear to be fine.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks,

Dominic

This is a massive problem with ITV1 HD. I don't think it is TV specific, although I do have a Panasonic, albeit a 50g20.

I googled it when I first noticed it and saw hundreds of complaints about it (from Freeview / fresat / virgin customers - not specific to one area or provider). It's infuriating and I can't even adjust the A/V sync on my AV receiver as it's out of sync in the wrong direction.

It's been like it for weeks, and other people have reported it happening months ago.

Thanks Monkey, ITV standard seems fine. I guess ITV will sort it, eventually.....

5HD on Sky appears to suffer from the same problem too.

My Sky+ box is a nightmare playing back most HD recorded prog's. Lip sync is so far out as to be comical, like the old Japanese 1970's kung foo over dubbed films. No idea whats causing it?

Ditto - mind bogglingly bad. Sky no help (surprise) and suggested altering settings nothing to do with the issue.

Some channels/programmes (esp. HD channels) seem worse than others and it is far worse on playing back recorded programmes. For example, I dread watching The Sopranos or Boardwalk Empire on Sky HD or things on Ch4 HD, as the sync is OK once very 10th time, if I'm lucky.

I often have to unplug or rebuild the box to get a programme to play correctly and/or delete others and keep the free space well up.

Is their a real solution?

Just played back some 'Boardwalk' from my Sky+ box. Not only was the lip synch miles off the picture was also astray! First time I have had this particular problem, I could only see half of the character on screen!! I wound on / wound back on a number of occasions and then it seemed to right itself. Bring back the old VHS tapes I say rolleyes

I switch to ITV1 and back to ITV1 HD and it usually syncs up, not always completely but it usually improves it.

Find this on all HD channels on my Skybox. Sometimes a 'cure' can be effected by hitting pause then play so you are effectively slightly behind 'real time' on live TV or just a bit further back on recorded.

I just cancelled my HD subscription because of this issue. It's been intermittently crap for the last 3 years, they can't seem to sort it out.
I gave up in the end, it was infuriating.

If you run it through an amp, check the settings on the amp- you can usually adjust the sync so it matches up perfectly.

Ive installed a few G30's this week and they all have it, put a sound bar with it and its even worse. Did a VT30 yesterday and it didnt seem to suffer with the issue.
