Problem with HDMI Extenders and AV Amp
Discussion
In order to get video/sound from my SkyHD box to a different room I'm currently using an HDMI splitter which outputs to a Cat5 HDMI extender (double cable, powered variety made by 'Neet').
If I plug this directly into the TV on the end of the 15m cable run, everything is working perfectly.
However, if I plug the HDMI cable into my AV amp, it works for about 5 seconds, then drops, works for 5 seconds etc. The same happened with my old AV amp as well, although not as freequently.
Could it be that the AV amp is more sensitive than the TV and is not 'seeing' the signal correctly?
Any ideas how to fix this? Maybe some better quality baluns?

Yes, this is a common problem with HDMI passing through AV Receivers especially from Sky Boxes.
Is it only the Sky box you need to extend?
In which case you could miss out the AV Amp completely for video and only feed it with the optical output from the Sky box.

PS Not sure how the newer boxes cope, both from Sky and in terms of AV Amps as they are now starting to offer HDMI Pass through.

I set up a similar system in our shop a few months back. Sky box to splitter to another splitter (supplying display TV's) then the Cat5 was pluged in there. Other end of cat5 went into a NAD amp. It seemed to work fine until it didnt work, I could pull the HDMI out of the Nad and plug it straight into the projector and it would work fine. The solution for me was at the other end, it was fed from a splitter plugged into a splitter, i just moved it back one level so it was just supplied by one splitter, it works a treat now. Also make sure you plugged in the power supply to your cat5 box at the reciever end too
