I am looking to buy one of the following to wirelessly listen to my music collection from both my Macbook ad potentialy firends iPads, iPhones etc.

Both are similarly priced and both look good. I want sound quality and tight, punchy bass.

Does anyone have experience of either/both and could comment on which is best?

Also, are there any other alernatives I should be considering?

I've had both. I had the Bose originally but when I moved to an iPhone 4 couldn't use it so some months later went down the B&W Zeppelin route.

I listened to both and also a Sonos something or other - personally the B&W was noticeably better than either of the alternatives. Having said that the only way to decide is to take your iPhone/iPod etc to a store and try them out.

This topic will only go one way.

But as was said, best try some options out with your own ears. yes

I had a Zeppellin and used to get interference between the tracks. Apparently this is normal, which I found odd. Now got a Sonos. Can't fault it.

I have had a listen to the Bose and it sounded good but didn't blow me away.

Do they lose any quality over the Bluetooth?

i'd also recommend you go check this out:

http://www.richersounds.com/product/mini-hifi-syst...

the apple airplay upgrade is usually $50. it will function like a regular hifi, but with functionality to play music wirelessly from any itunes device, and the cd/dab functions can be remote controlled via an app on ipad/ipod/iphone.

That's the one I've got, but they do a smaller one now too for £250ish.

The Play:5 is an amazing box, especially if you play with the eq a little.

Personally the Play:3 (new baby version) is a little less powerful and needs abusing in its EQ settings to getting it to sound good.

I have had the Zeppelin Air for a couple of months now and I love it, I haven't even docked a phone as AirPlay works so well.

John Lewis have both so you can get a comparison.

No problems at all, not sure if it depends on how good your home network is, i have bt home hub 3 and will have multiple devices running on wifi, zeppelin had no problems smile

Don't want to gush to much but it is very good.

Just ordered one of these through the Apple site. There are a lot of bad reviews on there in terms of connectivity.

Was it a Zeppelin you ended up going with in the end? And if there were so many bad reviews, how come you ended up buying one? confused

It was the Zepplin Air. The reviews are strange. Every hi fi mag rates it as the best available for the money.

The negative reviews come from people experiencing poor connectivity, which may be down to their own wi fi set ups.

With the discount, it comes to the same price as the standard Zepplin (the sound on which is excellent). I will try it out in my own home and see how the connectivity fares.

you have got a bargain there!

I paid full price 2 months ago but it is worth it, i hope you don't have the connection problems like people on the reviews.

Mine has been faultless and we listen to more music because of it, my two year old keeps saying " music zeppelin " smile

It seems strange that some have flawless connectivity and others cannot connect at all.

Like you Ben, I imagine I will listen to more music just because of the sheer convenience and flexibility.

I can't help but be suspicious of their home network.

If you have an iPhone or iPod you can use the free remote app to control your iTunes on your computer, i alway do this rather than stream from my device.

report back with a review smile

Calculator - do you mind saying what you paid for it please? I'm hoping for a price reduction on the B&W Air - John Lewis were listing at £449 briefly earlier in the week (5yr warranty) but went back up to £499. I know they have been on offer previously. My other thought is the Arcam Rcube and I might be tempted at £350 if it was bundled with the RWand again like it seemingly was in the summer for a while, but at £400 including Rwand I'm still erring towards the B&W.

There's an Apple one day sale today. Think it's £100 off. Part of all this Black Friday melarky.
