Hi,

Can anyone help me, I am looking for a cheap easy to use 5.1 (or 6.1) amp and speakers. (a package if poss)

I am not very tech minded so it must be easy to use!!

The PS3 has an optical out, and it will be used with my LG plamsa TV.

Not looking to spends loads of money, and it will be used for playing games on the PS3 and watching blue ray's via the PS3.

Thanks for any input.

I'm no audiophile but I also wanted better sound for my PS3 games and Bluray, so I got myself one of THESE packages.

It's an entry level system and there's plenty better out there (I don't intend upgrading it) but it works very well for me.

I have an Onkyo package like above (same speakers, different model amp) I found the smaller sets like the DVD packages didnt have as good a sound as the dedicated amp systems.

I have been doing some reading up and as I understand it HDMI amps are easier to use..

Just plug the HDMI lead from the TV into the amp, them another HDMI into PS3?

Am I reading this right?

Yep, it's much easier these days. Stuff plugs in to amp and you only (typically) need one lead (HDMI) between the amp and TV. Much easier than everything plugging in to the TV

Yes, but do you want the amp on all the time? If not make sure you get an amp with HDMI pass through, not all support it.

HDMI pass through means you can have the PS3 connected through the HDMI ports on the amp but you can still use the PS3 without the need to turn the amp on and use the TV speakers instead.

Sorry I should have said entry level AV receiver system package.

The one I linked to supports HDMI pass through and I can watch Sky or play PS3 using the TV speakers with the Amp on standby. Not that I do, it sounds crap now smile

It's easy with HDMI - plug your source devices into the receiver, then one HDMI cable out to your TV.

I've also got the above Onkyo package.

Very easy to set up.

One HDMI lead from the TV to the amp, HDMI lead from the PS3 to the amp. Done smile
