Sony DVD recorder/player

A little guidance would be much appreciated, I have a Sky+ box playing into a Sony Bravia. The sky+ box hard drive is almost full and so I want to down load this stuff onto a DVD and also play back DVD's occasionally. Thing is I do not know about compatibility stuff or what is good value. My budget is small at 130 - 180 pounds but will stretch if a product is really great at 200 pounds. Thanks for any advise / comments.

This may or may not be much help but, I have a Sky + box and a Sony DVD hard disc recorder/player thing. Cannot reall the cost but its a bout 5 year old.
I can download onto the hard disc then, if I wish dub them onto discs
Its that long since I have done it though I cannot remember how to!
So instead I get the other half to delete some of the stuff she has recorder so she can record some more stuff she'll never get around to watching.

Thanks for input, the stuff I have on my Sky+ is loads of the Jools Holland back shows. If I lose that lot I will be very very unhappy. Think I will go straight to Sony and ask them, see how good their customer care service is.
