Panasonic CF decoder slots- what can they be used for

Hope thats the right term for them...

Was adding an extra HDMI cable when noticed this slot for adding decoder cards.

Can't really seem to find out much information about them- can they be used to decode a sky signal? pickup other satellites?

what do i need to use it?

They can be used for inserting a CAM and a subscription card, main use in the UK is for adding 'Top Up TV' to your normal Freeview channels.
