DVD hard disc recorder-Panasonic EX83?

Was just about to order a Panasonic(EX83) but apparently the EPG is awful(any owners, is it?), full of adverts!!(WTF?!!). All I want is built in freeview(SD, no HD), the ability to play DVD RAM (as kids have films recorded to these)with SCART connections (TV is old, no HDMI). LG & Panasonic seem to be the only people making these now? I'm not buying a whole new setup while kids are young (why do they insist on touching/licking/sneezing in the bloody screen?!).

Only other route seems to be a PVR with seperate DVD player which I wa strying to avoid.
