My parents are looking to buy a new TV.

My Dad wants something with the following:

Full HD
32" (or above)
Decent speakers
£450 or under

Could you knowledgeable fellas suggest some models please?

They were just going to walk in Argos/Comet and buy one but I told them to hang on to ensure a good deal.

Cheers

If they are coming from a CRT I think you need to quantify what they mean by decent speakers.

If you are expecting to find a flat screen that even matches the sound out of the worst CRT you could ever buy, you will need to spend a lot more than 450.

And don't worry about 1080p. Buy a 720 set and spend the spare cash on external speakers to try and get half decent audio out of it.

I think my Dad is just worried about losing the 'loudness' of their current set. To be honest I don't think he'll notice ant difference - He said he'd be happy with something with 2 x 10w speakers.

If it bothers him at a later date he can buy a surround kit.

Adamant about 1080p though.

Suggestions?

I picked up one of these for under £400 in Comet at the weekend - very pleased with it and the sound is OK / good as well

That looks good for under £400, but should they be looking for an LED set if possible?

To my eyes the colours of the LED sets didn't look as good as the plasmas, but probably best for you to view a few back to back and decide for yourself.
