Panny GT30 42" - where cheapest at the moment?
Discussion
I'm after a 42" Panny GT30 and so far Panasonic retail shops have it on offer for £899 with 2 pairs of 3D glasses and a 5 year warranty, Amazon £798 with 1 year warranty and no glasses.
Just wandering if any of you had come across any better deals on this TV or even have any better recommendations for 42" Plasmas.

Thanks - I'm not overly fussed by 3D, it's just that the GT30 has a fantastic 2D picture as well.
LED - I'm not sure about, most sets I've seen look great but in reality the picture just looks too bright and vibrant (un-natural) whereas Plasma seems a more realistic (lifelike) picture.

I quite agree. I've just got a 42GT30 from Sevenoaks, who also give you the 5 year warranty from Panasonic.Funnily enough, I've been looking at the same models. Isn't the ST30 basically the same thing(with the same panel) just minus the FreesatHD Tuner? I've been thinking about getting the lower one and then a FreesatHD box/recorder.
It's so hard to compare these things!!!
ETA, well almost... http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/287749/modul...
Pretty similar but the GT30 does have the THX screen settings which all the reviews seem to rave about - I need someone with a lot more experience than me!

Zippee, how are you getting that price? The official Panny website isn't offering those deals(not that I can see) and I've just been into the Stevenage Shasonic shop, who say they are an official dealership, and it's listed at just over £1k. They will do it with 2 pairs of glasses, 5years Panny warranty for £1k or £1080 with a 3d bluray and 1.4 HDMI. (The glasses seem to be £70ea)tonyvid said:

Hi Tony,I was given that price by the Panny shop in Milton Keynes. Before Xmas they were offering the Blu-Ray package at £999.
This is looking like a good deal but not much details as to whether its either/or on the warranty/glasses. Just tried to ring but it's gone to answerphone.

If you're not interested in 3D then maybe consider the G30 which I believe is the same screen but without the 3D gadgetry

and a review with a mention of it being an alternative to the GT30

B******s, the lot of you
You may have seen my thread about a panny 42" and the model I WAS going to get was the G30 but now you lot have made me change my mind - the GT30 is a daddy of a TV!
Budget was already tight, going to have to dig even deeper for this model!
Thanks guys
But you're worth it!

Costco currently have a 42" Pana plasma at £499 plus vat - reduced by £400 I think. It's definitely freesat, may be 3D as well, an older model, not sure exactly which one - with the freesat it'll be a decent one though. Looks a very good deal, plus you get Costco's own 5 year wty with it.
If it helps on the GT30, until 12th Jan Panasonic dealers were doing it for £899 with 2 pairs of glasses, a 3D Bluray player, 5 years wty, a 3D Avatar disc and the Star Wars trilogy.
Ah. Whoops. Sorry. That doesn't help at all does it
ETA the Costco one is a 42VT20. £599 inc vat. Bargainacious I think.

Where was that from?
I got one yesterday, the old deal with 3D Blue Ray player and 2 pairs of glasses for £899.
I got that offered too but I wasn't bothered about the blue ray player as I already have one - that deal came to £870 including all the rest of the stuff I got.I got one yesterday, the old deal with 3D Blue Ray player and 2 pairs of glasses for £899.
I rang 3 panny stores in West Yorkshire (Weatherby, Bradford and Leeds I think) and Bradford store gave me the best deal.
Happy got a decent price, not happy about spending so much

Looking forward to setting it up now

What are your first impressions?
I started looking at GT30s but am a little concerned about the audio quality from the in-built speakers so my eyes are drifting to VT30s......argghhhh!
I do have a 5.1 amp but I don't really want everything on just for normal telly watching.
My impression of the speakers is that they are not much cop, but even my old CRT it replaced has been wired up to a stereo amp for fifteen years or more so I'm not used to TV speakers at home. If you hook it up with HDMI the TV will turn on the amp automatically, and set the amp as the sound output device in preference to the internal speakers.I started looking at GT30s but am a little concerned about the audio quality from the in-built speakers so my eyes are drifting to VT30s......argghhhh!

Good points Tog, I do the same with my big old Philips CRT which has a big old sound to match. Like Croyde, it's only now I'm seeing pics on flatscreens I'm prepared to swap my top end CRT for - the HD of these new generations is just stunning.
