Replacement mid/bass drivers for Castle Durhams
Discussion
Have a set of mid 90's vintage Castle Durhams that I use as rear speakers in an AV set up...the poly cones on the mid/bass units have cracked up so I'm looking to either re-cone (expensive) or replace the drivers. A lot of Castle speakers used 135mm units that are fairly easy to find substitutes for; these are 130s however (the four-cornered form, with curved sides), which are no-where near as common. Long shot but anyone know of a source for decent hifi drivers in this size?

Thanks; sadly, I think that series used the 135mm unit I mention earlier, the later ones used a slightly smaller driver. I really want to repair rather than replace the entire speakers as the cabinets are perfect and they work well etcI did once have a set of this type and the seller is spot on with his claims; they were great little units

Boultons in Yarmouth are likely to be able to carry out repairs http://www.audioloudspeakers.co.uk/boultons.shtmlI did once have a set of this type and the seller is spot on with his claims; they were great little units

Cheers; thanks
Try contacting Castle direct, if you really want to keep them
I have some early Durhams (paper coned) and there is a slight tear in one. I contacted them a few years ago, and they could replace it (I think it was about £50).
As someone else mentioned, just get some cheap bookshelf speakers, and sell the Durhams on ebay for spares.
