Why am i getting a blue screen via my amp?
Discussion
I'm hoping someone can help me with this!
I want to connect my media centre PC to my Panasonic 50ST30B via mini HDMI to HDMI so i can use it as a second monitor. Last night i did it and it worked fine! Only problem is, any sound came through my computer speakers. The plan was always to hook it up to my Onkyo HTS3405 system which was just sat unopened in the garage.
So i got it out of the garage last night, connected it all up to the amp (not connected the speakers yet), and all i get on the Panasonic is a blue screen, nothing else.
So it's fine without the amp connected apart from the sound, but with the amp connected, i just get a blue screen!
Any ideas why it is doing that, and how to sort it out??

Can't do a diagram at the moment, but i can explain.
I've got mini HDMI from the graphics card on the PC to one of the HDMI inputs on the back of the amp, then HMDI out from the amp into one of the HDMI ports on the TV.
I've not changed any settings on the PC as it worked fine with the amp taken out of the equation, and i went straight from the PC to the TV.

- You won't get sound unless you have sound going into your graphics card on the PC.
- Does the TV sound play through the amp when viewing a tv programme?
- What resolution and frequency is the PC set to? It may be confusing the amp.

Have you really?I have to tell my amp when I set it up that I am using say PC set to receive through the HDMI. I can also set it to receive S-video or RCAs or others so the amp needs to know which if the various inputs for the PC channel I am using.
Have you done this?
Ok, sorry, i misunderstood as i've never done this before. When i hooked up my last system, it was dead easy as it was just the PS3 into the amp, and then from the amp into the tv. All HDMI, no messing and it just worked.
Ok, maybe i should have titled this thread "Can somebody tell me what i need to do to hook up my PC, amp and TV?"
Help?

I too had this problem via my Onkyo amp and it was something to do with the signal dropping out.
The solution was a Gefen HDMI detective. Don't understand how it works but it does.
Just googled that, apparently it copies the HDMI signal from the screen to tell the amp it is always switched on. If that's the problem then it is an easy fix.The solution was a Gefen HDMI detective. Don't understand how it works but it does.
Considering he's not got any image I'd expect that the amp isn't looking towards the HDMI for input.
What you'd need to do is plug the amp via HDMI into the TV (you can connect your pc to the amp too shouldn't matter) and find the button on your remote that enters the setup, this should bring a menu up on the TV with options to change the input being used for the amp channel that's being used.
