Hi,

I would like to put all my cds on Nas and it connected to my hifi amplifier.
I would then like to control this via an ipad so it myst have an app.

I dont want the hastle of a network or wireless etc.
I would line a nas that has rca output to connect to my amp, which is remote controllable via an iphone app.

I' like it like this due to ease of maintenance and bad eyesight.

The quality must be excellent.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

If you want it controlled via your iPad you are going to need wifi anyway. Have you had a look at sonos?

Your best bet IMHO is an Airport Express and the standard Apple Remote app. Very easy to set up.

If i went for the sonos and also installed a nas.....is the nas very easy to connect to the network?
Is it wireless or just connected to the router via ethernet cable?

Or does the nas plug into the back of the sonos?

You could get an airport express as suggested already but connect it up with a stand alone DAC between it and your hifi amp (or if you are using an AV amp use optical rather than phono leads?)

As far as quality goes - itunes/remote app will stream Apple lossless files to the airport express (or .wav if you prefer?).

NAS = Network Attached Storage, so will attach to the network. The Sonos box will do likewise. Cable is better than wireless, but I can't think of any NAS box with wireless off the top of my head anyway.

Sonos or Squeezebox
NAS plugs into the router, players connect via wifi, ipad uses wifi to control.

Apologies, I don't really follow what you're asking. The thread title says you want to use NAS connected to an Amp with Apple Remote Control, but you said in the thread that you don't want to use iTunes and don't want the hassle of a network/wireless.

I'm happy to be proved wrong here, but isn't the point of Apple Remote to allow a device such as an iPhone to connect to and control iTunes libraries stored on other devices connected to the same wifi network?

NAS is for use on a network, so if you're not going to use a network there's no point using it. Do you mean that you just want to connect a big old storage device of some sort to your amp?

Maybe saying nas was misleading.

I really mean a box with all my ripped cds in it.
The box would also rip the cds.

Then that box would be connected directly to my amp.
Then controlled by ipad.

I think the simplest looks like an olive 03hd or 04hd
Although not cheapp
