Can I use a Sky+ HD box and watch HD channels on a non-HD TV? I want to upgrade to get the F1 without paying £20+/month to get Sky Sports. I can justify spending £10/month to get HD and when my current TV breaks I will upgrade to a HD telly but want to be able to use it in the meantime.

As long as you can physically connect your old telly to the Sky box I'd have thought so.

Why delay the inevitable though, just get a HD telly bought.

Yes, it has SCART output on the box so you can watch all the channels, including HD, in SD quality.

we've got a hd telly connected via hdmi and a wireless sender for upstairs connected to the scart.
weird thing is, the hd channels look better than the sd ones upstairs.
dunno how that works???

It's not a flat screen Trinitron is it? That's mine, its ancient and refuses to die.

Yes it would be nice to replace the TV too but I have get Dr's papers from SWMBO to upgrade the Sky subscription to watch the F1, which she doesn't like so a new TV might be pushing it. Expecially as I vetoed a new hoover last month!

I did this over the Christmas period when my old Sky+ box died. It was cheaper to get a new box (ie free) with HD subscription then replacing the + with a non-enabled HD box.

I then caved in and bought a 50" GT30, so I now have a perfectly good 36" PD30 sat in the dining room.
