Wireless Home Cinema/AV - clueless...
Discussion
Afternoon all!
I'm very out of the game on this stuff, I have an old Sony 32" LCD tv that is looking a bit fat and ugly...
Along with this I have a Marantz 6000 KI amp and cd player along with a pair of Rogers floor standers in rose wood. I still think it sounds good and looks great compared to a lot of modern stuff.
Hardly used stuff includes an Apple TV and XBox 360.
So, I would like to upgrade the TV first and I've seen some of the new ones have wireless and I've also seen some AV amps with wireless. Lounge is about 5m x 5m and have been told the tv can't be the focus of the room.
Main goal is good picture quality, good sound (I don't need a concert) and I can stream music from my iphone and Macbook straight to the hi-fi with as good sound quality as the Marantz cd player. For info the apple tv is connected to the tv via hdmi and then to the hifi amp via phono. Sounds average at best.
Thoughts with £2k ish to spend?
Thanks

The TV will be the focus of the room if you go bigger than 40", so probably stick that that size and try the Panasonic G range (if you prefer plasmas) or the Samsung D7000/8000 if you prefer LCD.
The Samsung looks better without question, but some prefer the image on a plasma.
Either of those will be under £1k.
In terms of sound, something like a Denon 2312 receiver (£400) would be able to plug all of your inputs in and sned a single HDMI output to the TV. This will give a great sound for home cinema and if you don't like the stereo sound it offers pre-outs so you can use your Marantz to power the front two speakers.

Thanks! Yes I was thinking 37" or 40" and marketing have got me to Sony much like Apple have with the iphone and Mac :-). Plasmas get a bit hot so LCD/LED - haven't seen the difference.
No real preference to audio although I like the look of Marantz and Arcam. Don't really know much about speakers other than KEF, Accoustic, B&W.
Not sold on Bose as you have to be sitting in the right spot to get the correct accoustics i.e. in the corner of the room you have no base (from what I recall).
Don't really want Sonos - I guess I'm looking for Sonos levels of wireless while maintaining the original AV system aesthetics.
Will look into what you suggested.

Have you tried optical out from the apple tv to your hifi ?
I haven't, I saw that there was optical on the Apple TV but never thought of connecting it to the TV and amp at the same time. I'll check the back of the amp, however I did purchase it around 2000 so do you think it will have it?Thanks!
