Bought a new 'simple' LG DVD Recorder and cannot get it to record from Sky+ The instructions are useless and I am not sure I have connected up the Scart leads right. I thought I saw a diagram somewhere on the net but can't find it now? Any ideas?

I didn't think you could record to another device from Sky+

I would have thought it would simply plug into the VCR scart port and just work no?

No unfortunately not, I questioned this with a sky engineer and he said you can't take stuff off of the hard drive which I guess also means you cant record from the box. There might be a way to record whilst you are watching the sky+ but I don't know how you'd go about this.

There is a facility in the planner that said 'backup' which I assume means to record to an external device via the outputs. I never tried but I cannot see why Sky would stop you from recording to another device. If you can output to a telly then there is no reason why you cannot record that output.

That answers that smile

Interesting!! So you can fill up your Sky+, copy to Bluray or straight to PC HDD.

Nice!

Works on Sky+HD too, so an easy way to fill up your film library with HD movies.

I have my Sky+ with scart going from sky+ > DVD Recorder > TV. All I do is start "playing" the prog on Sky and record on DVD.

+1 Easy to do as there's 2 scart outputs on the Sky box. Come on guys, whoever's saying it can't be done earlier needs to stop posting or get some imagination! smile

Scart isn't HD anyway.
