I'm not sure if this offends the name and shame rules, but if anyone is considering purchasing one of these PoS devices. don't, just fecking don't.

Having finally managed to get the bleeding PC to discover the bd drive, and that was a chapter all to itself, mapped the device as a network drive, and copied stuff onto it. So good so far.

It now resolutely refuses to reconnect on the PC rebooting. removing, reinstalling, and remapping, all useless, and WD helpdesk even worse. Followed all the suggestions on forums and WD resource centre till blue in the face.

Oh perhaps you need a firmware update sir!

So how do I get a firmware update on there if I can't connect to it?

Ah! Get back to you sir. (not)

rant: 0/10, not enough swearing. No energy left.

Completely agree with this, I'll never buy a WD product again.

I bought one of these a few years ago when my pc was running xp, upgraded OS to windows 7 and the drive couldn't be seen by the PC, after many months trying to get it working and a few calls to support they eventually told me it doesn't work with win7 and it can't updated. So I have a completely useless hard drive.

In contrast mine worked perfectly first time and has since. I didnt bother mapping the drive I let the enclosed software do it all for me.

Sorry you're having problems. I've had a My Bookworld for a couple of years and it works great, allowing me to read all my files from either my PC, Laptop or Netbook.
