Hi, can anyone give me an idiots guide to the scart and co-ax connections for the following?

I've lost the tuning on the Dvd and VCR recorders since the analogue switch-off and can't re-tune them.

Television, 2 scart sockets,
Set-Top Box 2 scart sockets
Dvd recorder 2 scart sockets
VCR Recorder 1 scart socket.

I appreciate that it's probably very easy, but it's not my strongest point!

Thanks

Tim

if you still use both the DVD recorder and Video recorder then you're out of luck.

otherwise:

Scart from digibox to TV and from digibox to DVD recorder. Scart from DVD recorder to TV. That way you can watch the digibox on AV1, a DVD on AV2 and still record from the digibox onto DVD if you wish by choosing the correct input on the DVD recorder.

Yes, I still want to use the VCR as well. Maybe the switch unit is the answer, but I had assumed that you could use the co-ax cables and scarts to make the right connections.

Thanks for the replies!

The co axial will only work if the digibox has an rf modulator. Not many do.
As others have said a scart switch is probably the easiest way, you can do it directly by selecting the correct input on the recorder.(eg ext1 or ec1 etc scroll back from what used to be bbc1 )remember your freeview box is now working as the video tuner so you cant change the channel to watch anything else.

You can buy a freeview recorder now from about £90 which will save you a lot of bother for day to day tv. These also have the advantage of recording straight from the EPG so you dont need to set date/time/start/finish etc
Some dvd recorders have built in freeview too but you will need to get your head around formatting discs and then finalising recordings when done.

Thanks for all the info, but can anyone explain why I can no longer get the dvd recorder to locate any tv channels?

I assumed that the set-top box would take care of the tuning, but the DVD recorder just isn't "seeing" an aerial connection or signal.

Thanks

Why does the DVD need to tune to anything? Just record from STB using scart.

Does the DVD recorder have a digi tuner?

If it is only analogue then there is nothing for it to see as the analogue was switched off

Yes, I appreciate that. I just thought that, as the set-top box was connected to it, that it would receive a signal via that. As I said, not my strong point!

At least I can still record via the set-top box, anyway.

Thanks
