I don't have Sky, and don't want to sign up to a long contract, but I would like to watch Giro D'Italia highlights.

As far as I know, the only UK coverage is on Eurosport. I know I can pay £4.99 for a month of their web player, which I don't mind from a price perspective, but I'd much rather find a way to get it on to my 50" plasma.

My PC is two floors above said plasma, though, so just plugging it in to the plasma isn't an option as far as I'm aware.

Does anyone know if there is any way of getting Eurosport onto a Humax Freeview HD box, a Panasonic Plasma or a Sony Bluray player? The latter has Eurosport headline snippets, but that's about it, I think.

Alternatively, does anyone know of a way of getting the picture (and ideally keyboard/mouse control) from my PC in my office down two flights of stairs to the plasma?

You can get it via Top-Up Tv. You can probably get a CAM and a card to fit in the back of the Panasonic, as long as you have Freeview built in.

Sadly that's only Sky and ESPN, not Eurosport. frown

The Panasonic has Freesat built in rather than Freeview, although my Freeview box does have a topup slot should Eurosport ever sign up to it.

Eurosport is part of the basic cable TV package from Virgin - I think Sky you have to pay extra for it.

Sorry! Misread that one. Eurosport is available free to air on Hotbird IIRC or was it Astra 1? I'll check later, problem is it was in German only last time I used it. Would need to move your dish to get this,

Just checked and Eurosport Germany is available free to air on Astra 1 (19.2E) . Also RTL is FTA on there as well, I think they do the F1 GP? You would need to re-align your Sky dish, which should be big enough if you're in the south, or get a bigger dish and separate receiver.
