Chunky Blu Ray Player?
Discussion
Depends on what you want to pay really. Pioneer's higher end range have more "meat" to them as do the Cambridge Audio 651 and 751. They do tend to be over £200 though.
Belay that the Pioneer BDP140 is not slimline and is under £100. It also seems to be a very good player of CD's and can play SACD's which is a definite bonus. Speed wise it betters the PS/3 when loading which I gather is a bit of a benchmark.

Oppo BDP 93 or BDP 95 are fairly chunky players, that also play media files via USB and network, great analogue decoding if you have an older amp or processor, plus DVD-A and SACD playback. Pretty expensive for a BluRay player, but I'm very happy with my '93. [I have an older Arcam AV9 processor which would have cost me about £3,500 to replace with the current equivalent model rather than using the Oppo's built in decoding].
This is the '93:

The '95 is even chunkier:

Denon make what I would call "full size players". If you look for second-hand ones, you can find older models that are bigger still. I don't really mind the low height of the modern players, it's the lack of depth that annoys me. Makes it difficult to stack any equipment when the CD player, receiver etc are all of a standard two dimensions.
