Tivo Audio Query
Discussion
I have my Tivo box connected to my receiver via HDMI and Optical Out. Audio is set to Dolby Digital (not DD to PCM) in the menu. On programmes such as The Voice on OneHD or Lord of the Rings on 4HD, they both state that the audio is in DD. However, my receiver just says "Stereo". Whereas, Man v Food on DaveHD does play in DD as does the film Taken which I recorded from Film4HD.
What's the deal? Is the Tivo at fault, the broadcasts or my receiver?

I wonder if it's a receiver issue then. I have the Tivo going through HDMI4 and assigned to that input. If I go to Input Mode, I can set that to HDMI (or Digital or Ext.IN), Audio passes through.
However, if I turn on HDMI Control, so that the Tivo is passed through the Receiver to the TV, when it was turned off and also so that turning the TV on/off also controls the Receiver (Plus Tivo, Blu-Ray etc) it defaults the Input Mode to Ext.In and gives me no choice to switch to HDMI. So no Audio. Hence why I am using Optical as that allows audio to pass when HDMI Control is on.
When I previously had SKY, I had to use Optical as the SKY box couldn't output DD via HDMI. I didn't have any issues with DD from different channels. Audio via the Optical out shouldn't be causing an issue though, it's just a digital feed.
Currently, the following HD channels state that they are broadcasting a DD feed on the show playing:
BBC One
SKY Living
Comedy Central
4
FX
SKY Sports 1
SKY Sports 2
However, none are being recognised as DD by my receiver.
ALL other HD channels that claim that they are broadcasting in DD, are being recognised by receiver.
This is with the the TIVO connected purely via HDMI and not Optical.
So is Tivo's info page that states that there is a DD soundtrack wrong? Does it just relate to the channel in general and not specific to each show?
When I had SKY previously, I don't remember any shows stating that they were in DD and then not appearing as such.
