Having see the samsung with the ultra thin bezel, I'm after a new tele smile however they only go up to 55" and I've got a 55" already. Figured a 60/65" screen with no frame/bezel will take up the same wallspace as the current one which has unused speakers on the side etc.

So, the question, does such a thing exist!?

Samsung do a 60" in their 8000 series, it does have a very thin bezel.

Guess thats this one, but thats 60" not 60"+ wink I think it needs to be more than 60 to make the upgrade worth it!

See image, I think the panny still has a border albeit within the glass, whereas the Samsung I've seen does run right to the edge. Obviously need to check in person but I think I'm right.

Samsung seem to do a 65" version of the 8000 series as well.

If you look at the gallery for that one it doesn't have or list an ultra slim bezel

I think 60" is the limit for the current Samsung 8000. It is also a lot more expensive.

Prices are high at the moment as the new range has recently come out, but in about September, I got last year's 55" for £1,500 (original price £2,500). The 60" was also available at £2,900 (original price £3,000)! The price step up must be so steep because of the low volumes produced.

I looked at the panni and the Samsung, it is chalk and cheese, the panni may have a bigger bezel but its a much better telly.

The key bit about having a slim bezel is that we currently have a 55" plasma see with a big surround. The theory on a 65" is it will take up much the same wall space but have a bigger picture. IYKWIM

I take it that is some sort of man maths, its still diagonaly 10 inches bigger, which means the old telly would have to have a five inch bezel.

Not far off, look at the link, side is 6" top is ~3". Its got speakers that don't come off that add to it.

I can see on our system that a 65" is due out in July with an RRP of £3498 inc VAT.

Should be a beast - they are a lovely TV.

And that's the same as the 55" Samsung with the ultra slim bezel ? Any other details on spec?

When you are getting up to these sorts of sizes and budget, does it not make more sense to look at a decent HD projector and screen combo?

Possibly but room shape/layout/cabling have an impact, and as the ceilings just been re-skimmed and walls repainted I aint putting a projector in!

It seems to be exactly the same (but bigger version) of the 55". Should be a beast!
