Need some help in setting up my SS - not sure exactly what I need doing as I'm struggling to get it right.

First of all, I ain't too polished on these kinds of things so please keep it simple enough for me to 'get it' smile

So, got a Panny 42" Plasma and just bought a Panny SS to go with it.

My current set up is TV with Sky box and PS3 connected via HDMI.

I've tried setting up SS (HDMI from SS into TV) but I don't get any sound when I switch to PS3 or Freestat. The Sky Box seems to be ok.

The other issue is that how do configure the system so I can switch between different inputs (I.e to PS3) - at moment when I switch to HDMI 2 which is the PS, the screen is just blank.

Do I need I reconfigure the HDMI's for each device, if so, where do I need to put them against ( TV or SS)

Apologies in advance for the basic questions.

Thanks

Hi there,
Any chance you could post up your surround sound model? there are lots of different specifications of kit and knowing exactly what you have will help answer the question.

Model is BTT590

UPDATE

I've got the HD/PS3 & SS working which is all good however I can't get the Free Stat on the TV to work with the SS - any ideas?

I think I've got the Viera link working but it's a bit of a hit/miss - sometimes it connects and the other times it doesn't - anyone else get the same issue?

Thanks

Thanks for that and well done on getting the PS3 working. Are you getting full 5.1 on the PS3 over HDMI OK?

As for the freeview of the tv, how are you trying to get the digital signal back to the main unit? If the cable is HDMI 1.4 compliant you can send the audio signal back via HDMI through the HDMI out which is has ARC on it. This would also mean the TV has ARC on the HDMI socket your connected to. Failing that does your TV have an optical out on it? You could send it back to the amp this way if you get stuck. Cheers.

Thanks.

I've got the system working, but I'm not really happy with the set up. This is what I have done:

SS to TV via HDMI (ARC to ARC) + digital Optical (though this is not necassary)
SS to HD via HDMI
SS to PS3 via HDMI

For the SS speakers to work with Free Sat, I need to have the SS on ARC - however if the HD box is turned on, then the SS outputs this over the Free Sat - any help on this?

Also, I thought that the Viera link will enable me to just use the SS remote to control the TV and SS, but it doesn't. If I'm on Free Sat, I can't change channels on the SS remote or open any menus - really annoying!

I thought the whole purpose of having Panny TV/SS was to have a all in one remote - using 3 remotes is a pi55 take.

Now, I have probably done something wrong - but is the above set up correct? The HDMI's are 1.4 compliant

Thanks
