Latest Costco Deal - 70" Sharp 3D LED TV...

Wait, wait, WAIT!
70 f
king inches?!?
I had to go and see this for myself - bleedin' hell!
This is all getting a bit daft now isn't it?
How many living rooms could comfortably accommodate one of these monsters?
Yes - I am aware that most projector screens are bigger than this, but this isn't something that you can easily retract into an alcove or summat.
Surely these will mostly be bought by the 'mine's bigger than yours' crowd, without a thought to whether or not they actually have the room for it?

I have over 60" in a small bedroom only four feet wider than a double bed.
Nobody thinks it is overkill, HD is designed to be viewed from up close.
Would happily have over 70" in a decent sized lounge!
Width is not the issue, length is, if your so close you have to turn your head to see from one area of the screen to another, then its too big.Nobody thinks it is overkill, HD is designed to be viewed from up close.

And no, you don't need to turn your head to see different parts of the screen.
Like I said, nobody has thought it too large, in fact on max it is nearer 70" and from seven feet or so away it is too big, but just over 60" is perfect from that range.
Look at a cinema, how big is the screen, how close are the first row of seats?
Put it this way, screens wont be getting smaller any time soon, the only way is up!

Did you look at the swimming pool they have? Don't know if they're in every branch but in ours (Chester) they have a pool that can't be far off Olympic size!

^^ And Costco are excellent with aftersales if anything goes wrong.
70" is huge but they could have sold a shed load of the 60" TV's last year. They cleverly put Wimbledon on in HD, which was a masterstroke IMHO.
I wondered why the guys were huddled round but when I got closer I saw, in all her glory, Maria Sharapova bent over waiting to receive the next serve.
I then realised, along with everyone else, why I *need* a 60" HD TV

Anything over 60/65" is far too big to fit in a normal car. Especially as you need to transport tellies vertically. The box for my 65" Panny is as near as dammit 4 foot tall. It wouldn't fit in the Mrs' oversized Chelsea tractor, so I very much doubt any sensibly sized car would get it in.
Just get it delivered!

My (plasma) Panny's instructions say it MUST be transported in a vertical position.
Of course I didn't see that until I'd brought it home - horizontally - and it's been fine.
I don't know if that applies to LCDs/ LEDs and if so whether they are less forgiving.
IIRC, the reason for keeping it vertical is that many plasmas cannot support the weight of the screen when horizontal, leading to it cracking.Of course I didn't see that until I'd brought it home - horizontally - and it's been fine.
