Question!
Whats the best layout for a 5.1 surround sound system, ie speaker location?

I dont think i have a long enough HDMI cable from the AV rack to the TV, short by about 30 CM.... So will i notice any quality lose putting a HDMI wall socket in behind the AV rack to enable me to get a smaller HDMI to extend it?

The AV Rack consists of:

Pioneer AV receiver with 1 - 4 HDMI switch.
Media PC running Plex
Sky HD

I assume the TV is going in the chimney breast opposite the sofa? If so then I think you have it marked right - speakers where the blobs are and a centre underneath.

You shouldn't notice any difference putting a socket in although I would buy a good one.

How long is the HDMI cable? I've had issues at over 15m. Test it all first before installing.

I think its 12 or 15 meters.

How long over 15m and what issues?

The cables i bought were from Mark Grant, so very good cables.

Any idea on where to get a decent HDMI socket from?

Thanks

Technicaly unless they are dipoles I think the rear speakers should be facing each other.

Picture break -ups, 'hand-shake' problems. 15m is usually ok but test everything before you lay the cables in properly (if you are)
