Hi-Fi Separates Repair
Discussion
On the offchance that someone might have a personal recommendation.
I've recently re-assembled my separates system after 4 years in storage, during that time it seems that my amp and my cassette deck have developed issues.
The cassette deck is an Aiwa ADWX-999 that I spent years looking for and the amp's a Kenwood KA-3020se
Whilst neither are hugely modern they are (to me at least) worth repairing
Any recommendations for places that do decent repairs to such items.
I'm located in near Bath but can send by courier.

probaly cheaper to upgrade and get replacements from ebay then get repaired,,,,,, not what you want to hear but just came to same conclusion with a watch, that it is same price for repair and new replacement.
Agreed on the amp but he tape deck is a rare model that I took about 2 years to find last time, can't be bothered to wait again, would rather just get it repaired.I was looking for a similar service recently. I'm located in Bristol and after some research and reviews I called Electrofix based in Clifton.

They were really helpful when I spoke on the phone. In the end I did the repairs myself, but would have confidence in dropping something off with them in the future.

Go to Maplins, buy a can of switch cleaner and a airduster can, take the amp lid off, airdust it o death then spray with switch cleaner, reasemble, this may fix your amp as most of these problems are caused by dust and dissuse, my Arcam delta 290 was the same after storing it a couple of years, do this and use it and it should work itself out, take the top off the tapedeck and visually inspect it, if it is the belt then you will see it, if not do what you did with the amp.

I ended up dropping both items off in Clifton and they were repaired, cleaned and generally fettled into a fine state of working for not a great deal of cost.
PH sorts it again!
