Looking to get some closed back on-ear headphones for the office. Having done the rounds of the shops to try them on (doing my upmost best to avoid the crap quality Beats by Dr Dre monstrosities!) and read the reviews, the AKG-K51 and Audio Technica ATH-WS55i seem to be the best bets.

My question therefore is around the sound isolation. SI is a must because it's a quiet office where 'leak' from headphones is noticeable, especially as I like dance/house etc music which is renown to leak.

Does anybody have any experience of either and can comment on the 'leak'?

TIA smile

+10 x 1000!!!!

Buy these and you won't need anything else for many years.

Sounds great, isolate well, are comfy, look cool and are made in total of 4 parts, all replaceable.

Looking at them now - they seem to be the kiddies...

Just to be sure, they are good at isolating outside noise but what are the 'leak' levels out of the headphones like? This is more important than letting noise in as I work in a quiet office.

BTW, these will be used with an iPhone/Pad.

have a set of ATH M50's, slightly over budget compared to your original Audio Technica choice but they are stunning!

They hardly leak anything. Never had any complaints in either of the offices I've worked in. They do leak more if you crank them up, but this is at painful hearing damage volumes!

Just make sure you don't get the cheaper ones if you chose these (SP version). You want the HD25-1 II which retail around £150ish.

I use mine with my worklaptop and iphone, in the office, at home and when I'm away travelling on holiday/work. They look a little flimsy and have a lot of movement between the ear cups and band, but that's what makes them soo bullet proof. I've stood on them, dropped them on beaches onto hardwoord/concrete floors, pulled the cable umpteen times and they don't have a mark on them. The most worn part is the plug and the wear is a slight nick in the plastic right where it fishes on the plug..... All after about 4years of use.

There are better sounding phones out there (home use only wink), but I can say that these took me out of the headphone hobby and just let me enjoy the music. No upgrades to my home system, no portable amplifiers or cable mods. Just plug these in and enjoy!
