Portable Battery Powered Beat Box

I have a friend with a problem. Actually he has many but this one is that he needs a music source for an iPod that is battery powered (too far from mains) but is powerfully built enough to be heard outside. Any suggestions?

Not such a simple option, but I've got one of these T-Class amps

Paired with a lithium ion battery and some PA speakers it is pretty loud and can run off grid for a fair few hours (I've not actually had a chance to test it until it runs out). As you're using large unstressed speakers the sound is pretty clear and seems to travel well too.
