A friend kindly gave me a LG RZ-42PX11 42 plasma TV. I would like to mount it to the wall will a bracket like this

But measuring the holes on the back there seems to be three bolt holes on each side (6 in total) 27 cms in height top to bottom and 63 cm apart width ways. That doesn't seem to be the VESA standard, so what I am wondering is this one seems to have more options in width and height placement of the bolts ( but it is nearly double the price ).

Any advise if the first one could fit ? or is the second one the way to go ?

Also do the brackets come with bolts for the tv ( doesn;t seem to be any with the tv ) if not is there a "standard" size and what would that be.

Cheers

  1. Your TV weighs about 35Kg so I personally would not use the first option.
  2. The wall bracket I got for my 32" LCD came with a whole selection of bolts and spacers.

Cheers Floss, the bracket is rated up to 50 kg and has decent reviews on amazon with people hanging bigger tvs on it. The reason I want the cheaper one is we moved into our first house on friday and we are spending money hand over fist on things we never thought about ( £300 on a supermarket shop, £200 on DIY stuff etc etc).

If it wont fit it won't fit but I thought I would check first.

Vesa standards are 50mm, 75, 100 and 200mm spacing in any combination so 200x200 being largest. A 42" tv especially an lcd or plasma set will need the larger adjustable type brackets like the second picture you have there and will come with all sizes of bolts and spacers. Make sure you have a very good wall fixing if you want a pivot arm bracket they put a lot of stress on the wall so screw into brickwork or studs. If you have dop n dab walls you will need long anchor bolts to reach the brickwork. Plasterboard plugs will not hold this kind of weight or stress.
